Can Polyphenols Protect the Diabetic Retina Before It Is Too Late?
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Ángel Luis Ortega, from the University of Valencia, Spain, will join Polyphenols Applications 2026 as a speaker.
His lecture, “Can Polyphenols Delay Diabetic Complications? Pterostilbene as a Translational Model in Retinal Health,” will explore how polyphenols may contribute to the prevention of chronic metabolic complications, with a particular focus on diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Ortega’s work highlights pterostilbene, a natural polyphenol related to resveratrol, and its potential role in protecting retinal tissues against oxidative stress, inflammation, and vascular damage associated with diabetes.
This presentation will bring an important translational perspective to the congress, connecting polyphenols, metabolic disease, microvascular dysfunction, and retinal health.
Join us in Málaga for Polyphenols Applications 2026, where science, nutrition, and innovation will meet to rethink the future of prevention.
